Deadline for Donations — Dec. 8, 2013
Cheques should be marked: Emergency Response — Typhon Haiyan Relief
UPDATE: Members of the United Church of Canada have shown their generosity this past week. A total of $235,271.25 had been given by 1515 donors (as of 8:45 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20).
In the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, United Church partners in the Philippines are responding. They are present where needs are greatest, able to provide immediate relief as well as support for reconstruction. We are there with partners as they reach out in compassion and service.
Three things you can do:
1. Donate to provide immediate support and long term rebuilding for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
2. Pray for those impacted and those engaged in relief efforts.
3. Learn more about the issues surrounding this disaster and United Church partners.
Funds donated will be distributed to United Church partners in the Philippines and ACT Alliance for relief and reconstruction efforts.
The Canadian government will match, dollar for dollar, donations made to the United Church of Canada. Donations need to be at the United Church’s General Council Office no later than December 8, 2013.
To ensure that all money collected is seen as coming from individual donors, congregation members need to give directly to The United Church of Canada, 3250 Bloor St. West, Suite 300 Toronto, ON M8X 2Y4. Cheques should be marked “Emergency Response-Typhoon Haiyan Relief”.
Members may also give directly online at http://www.united-church.ca/haiyan
