Greetings, everyone.
Last June, the board established a Return to Worship Committee to look at the timing and details of re-opening NKUC for worship services. After several months assessing the situation and considering various options, and after consultation with the NKUC Unified Board, the Committee feels that now is the time to, very cautiously, re-open in mid-September.
Our main priority is to provide as safe a worship experience as possible for everyone. This would include social distancing, sanitizing measures, and other Manitoba health protocols, possibly also facemasks for those members of the congregation who are able to wear them.
In-person services contribute significantly to our sense of community and connection with one another and with the Church. We miss coming to church and interacting with our church community, and we all want to return to the ‘old’ normal, but that’s not possible right now.
However, it is possible to safely move forward, with a limited re-opening. To ensure social distancing, we need to limit the number of people in the church at any one time. Therefore, we are planning to provide three options to accommodate as many people as possible:
1. A church service on Thursday mornings (for those available during the week)
2. A church service on Sunday mornings (for those not available on Thursdays, and for families), and
3. A weekly on-line church service (for those not comfortable with coming in person at this time).
We need your feedback.
Would you be interested in attending:
1) Thursday morning, or
2) Sunday morning, or
3) Prefer to continue watching the on-line service?
Please reply by email (nkuc@mymts.net) by August 25 so that we can start formulating concrete plans to make this work.
Thank you, everyone, and God bless!
Heidi McIlwain, Chair
NKUC Unified Board
