Legacy Giving

We often find ourselves at NKUC pre-occupied with the day-to-day maintenance of our property. That is indeed a big job but it often means that we’re not looking at the big picture and, for those times in the past when we have, there was no money set aside for that big picture.

To deal with the ‘big picture’, we’ve established a Legacy Fund – a special account dedicated to special projects identified by either the congregation or the donor. The fund grows and is used as directed by the donor or as recommended by the Legacy committee.

A Legacy committee was established at the February annual meeting, consisting of Clayton Gording, Del Sexsmith, Ron Hutchinson and Tom Lyons. This group is there to advise those among the congregation who are considering a Legacy gift, to manage the Legacy fund, and to advise the Unified Board as to how and when these funds should be allocated and spent. Assisting this committee is Kathryn Hofley, a financial development officer for the United Church of Canada.

For anyone considering a Legacy gift to North Kildonan United Church, they can contact, in confidence, any member of the Legacy committee or Kathryn Hofley directly at 943-4844 or by e-mail at khofley@united-church.ca
